were in NewYork.

Bought some foam paper to produce the "home made" Liberty Crown. The kids
like it very much since half of the effort is come from them.

Summer East coast Trip - New York

I will reassume writing blog.. let see... will start with the summer east coast trip this year. This is the very excited trip and this is the first trans-continental flight from west coast to east coast. Due to the incident happen in last trip (Vegas trip) and everyone is worried about H1N1 we are extra careful this time. We make sure we have enough rest before we on board.On 12th Aug night, we took the Jet blue flight from PDX to JFK terminal 5.

It's a new terminal which cater for the Jet Blue. The airport is quite clean. We took the AirTrain to rental car center. It was not a very good experience as we waited almost 1 hour before we got our rental car. We even spotted a mosque near the airport.

We decided to take our breakfast at Chinatown in Queens (Flushing) Flushing is a very interesting city. It's just like Petaling street in KL, I didn;t feel like I am in US when I entered downtown Flushing. Initially we plan to "ta pao" Peking Duck bun, but it only available at lunch time. So, we got some DimSum , Soya bean and Tea. The food here is really cheap and delicious.

We park our car at hotel (with 24USD per day.. yes.. parking is not free) and took the subway to NYC.

UN is sort of our first tourist spot in New York. There're a humanitary exibition there. JingKai and JingJie is having fun to make some drawing on the big "peace" Poster.

We have our dinner in a Malaysian restaurant in Little Italy. The food was great especially the roti canai, Beef Rendang and 滑蛋河。Met a friend who lost contact for more than 10 years.

Upon checking in the hotel, felt that this is the best hotel we have even stay on our road trip. It's Manhattan view with corner glass window.

Last weekend (16th July 200) we went to Ipoh due water interruption in Penang.
We went to eat dimsum in FooShan, then we went to the temple in Gunung Rapat. Shopping in Kinta City , hi-tea at Woody and TauGe Chicken as dinner.

My Bangkok Trip - Day 5/8 and 6/8

Day 5 : SkyTrain trip .

We bought a day pass for Skytrain (100 Baht per person) and visit the Bangkok city by sky train. We visit some attraction like Lumphini Park, Jim Thomson house , Victory Monument and Erawn Shrine. We also visited the Bangkok high class shopping center area like Siam Center, Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery Center.

Day 6 : Chatuchak Weekend Market

Today not much plan, just plan to visit Chatuchak weekend market. For first time in my life, I tested a few "bug". The nicest I think is the grasshopper.

My Bangkok Trip - Day 4/8

Day 4

We went to the biggest floating market in Thai which is Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Ratchaburi
For this, we took up the local tour which cost us 1300Baht for whole family.
We wake up early in the morning and the Van come and pick us up at exactly 6.30am.
We go together with 3 other tourists which stay in other area.

The van also bring us to coconut sugar factory, wood crafting factory and the cobra show.

My Bangkok Trip - Day 3/8

Day 3 :
We went to the main attraction in Bangkok - The emerald buddha temple(Wat Phra Kaew) and Grand Palace. Besides, also went to Wat Po (reclining Buddha) and Wat Arun (Temple of the dawn).

The Emerald Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Kaew) and Grand Palace are the one of the main attarction in Bagkok. Entrance fee is 250 Baht per person and including the entrace for these two place and also Vimanmek Mansion and Anantasamakhom Throne Hall which I think is quite worth it.

After that we when to Wat Pho and then took the ferry across Chao Phraya River to Wat Arun.

My Bangkok Trip - Day 2/8

Day 2 :

Bring the kids to Safari world and Marine world. Seems like a lot of show are under construction. 3 of the show Multi Animal show, Orang Utan Boxing show, bird show were closed due to construction. Only managed to watch the Sealion show, Dolphin and white whale show, Polar Bear feeding. For two other show Western cowboy stunt show and Spy War show, it's not meant for child below 4 years, so we have to skip those shows as well.
Overall, it's a nice experince although I think this is same as what they have in the A Famosa in Alor Gajah, Melaka. The most interesting one should be the dophin and white whale show which they claim that Thailand is the only two place you can see the white whale show besides Japan. The kids were enjoying themselves. Lunch is reasonable price.
At nite, I took the bus to Suan Lum Night Bazaar which is quite near from our hotel.

My Bangkok Trip - Day 1/8

Last week, I bring my whole family (including both Ah Kai and Ah Jie) to Bangkok for 1 week. It's a chanllenging and interesting trip. It was an eight days trip (5/8 - 5/15)

Day1 :
Arrive at Bangkok international Airport at 9.20am local time. First impression, very hot and a lot of traffic. Took a cab to Hotel. (Silom City Inn). Took lunch at Hotel before going to our first destination Golden Buddha temple (Wat Traimit) which is the largest Golden Buddha Image in the world and Chinatown.(15 ft 9 in tall and weights approx 5 tons) At night, we were having our dinner at Silom Village Seafood restaurant which is just walking distance from our hotel.

On the labour day holiday we went to Batu Feringhi for picnic.
Ah Kai like the beach very much since our last trip. He like to play with sand.
We purposely bought a brand new beach sets for the kids the day before.
But it is very hot and there's not much breeze/wind.
Ah Kai seems like enjoy it very much. Ah Jie even "bath" with sand.

My department Family day

This year is my department 15th anniversary celebration. In conjunction with this there's a company dinner on 13th of April , 2006 and Family day on the 15th April , 2006.

Both Ah Kai and Ah Jie were enjoying the family day event. Ah Kai completed his very first sand art and playing the ring game besides enjoyed a lot of forbidden food like junk food, ice cream and cold drink. He won 3 prizes from the ring game : colour pencil, back pack and some junk food.

Just bought a new digital camera :Canon S2 IS.
So far still playing around with the feature. Seems like the camera doesn't come with any rechargeable battery and only a 16Mb SD card (only enought for 4 picture :-) .
Decided to buy a 512Mb SD and buy more battery from lelong.com.

Business trip to Athens Greece

Just came back from my one week business trip to Athens, Greece.
I have about 2 and half days spare time out of my hectic and packed meeting schedule.
One the first day, we went to the most famous sightseeing spot in Athens - "Acropolis".
We have to spend 12 euro ( 1 euro ~= RM4.5) to purchase a acropolis entrance ticket.
The ticket also enable you to visit 5 other historical sites around Athens, namely :
1) Ancient Agora
2) Theatre of Dionysos
3) Romain Agora
4) Kerameikos
5) Temple of Olympian Zues.

I only managed to visit Ancient Agora and have another 4 tickets with me. Maybe I can visit next time if I still have chance to visit Athens :-)

From top of Acropolis, you can see alsmost the whole Athens city. It's quite nice view.

On the next spare day, we went for cruise to 3 island namely : Poros, Hydra and Aegina.
It cost ~78 euro (original is 85 Euro) which including the lunch and some Greek cultural performance.
The view is quite nice.

On the last day, I just spend the whole morning to shop for souvinier in Plaka.
Later I found out that the Ouzo in Airport is actually cheaper than in Plaka :-( so I bought another bottle of Ouzo in Airport.

Finally at the month of 13th, Ah Jie able to walk around by himself. He is very exited on this.
It's a very good present for me. After I came back from my business trip in Athens, I felt very happy to see that he can walk by himself.

During Mei Tse's brother wedding luncheon on the 1st day of 2006, JingKai make himself on the stage to sing 2 chinese oldies. - "chang shou qing ge gei shui ting" and "Xi Wang Zhai Ming Tian" .
All the guest are very impress of him. He's only 3 years and half month.

Ah Kai just completed his first year in school.
Overall teacher comment is he's a bright kid, but with wierd behaviour sometimes. Based on feedback, he's helpful, obedient and talkative kid.
He scored pretty decent mark in his "final Exam". He even won the consolation prize for the colouring contest for 2-3 years group. The prize is a story book and a set of colour pencil

Finally Ah Jie able to hold the milk bottle himself.
No need to hold the bottle for him anymore. He seems like enjoying himself on this. Some times, he even hold it with only one hand.

1st Europe Trip

I went to Europe for the business trip on last year( November, 2004) . My destination is Cyprus Island. Besides Cyprus, I also visited Amsterdam since I have 8 hours transit time in Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. This is the first time I went to Europe.

From airport, we took a train to downtown Amsterdam which cost us 5.7 euro round trip (from airport to Amsterdam Central).

Amsterdam is full of bicycle and canal.
We went for canal tour, visited famous red light district etc. It’s just the short trip in Amsterdam, but I think is a very good experience because the building looks really difference from US.

Cyrus Island is break into two, southern part is Greek and northern is Turkish. We went to Greek part of the Cyprus. We stayed in Le Meridian Hotel. It’s a nice hotel and have one of the Europe finest SPA.

Danga Bay Trip on Hari Raya

Here is some picture on one of the place of interest in Johore Bahru, Danga Bay.

I went there on 2nd day of Hari Raya (4th Novermber 2005) , it’s packed with people. There’s numerous activity you can do here, such as kids can play the ride on games like merry go-around, roller-coaster, cup, mini train etc.

They also have a train(trailer) which will bring you around the place. You can also stand at the seaside to enjoy the seaview or “Singapore view” (as Singapore is just opposite the sea).

Besides went to Danga Bay, we also have lunch in the famous fish head curry shop at Ulu Tiram.

A Famosa Trip in Deepavali

A’ Famosa Trip in Deepavali

During deepavali this year, we went to A’ Famosa to spend almost the whole day there.
The entry fees for the Safari park is RM35. We paid ~RM45 to include the lunch.
There’s 4 shows included : Bird Show, wild wild west, Multi Animal Show and Elephant show.

We reach there about 12 noon, just in time for the bird show. There’re a lot of bird actor such as pigeon, hornbill, eagle and parrot.

Next we went for lunch. The lunch have a few choices , main dish included Hot plate Noodle, Curry Rice and chicken rice and you can choose from various soft drink.

Next show is Wild Wild West, which I think is similar to the show in Universal Studio.

The following show is the multi animal show. There’re lots of animal star like otter, iguana, orang utan, bear and dog.

Next, we went for the Safari trip. There’s a caged van that bring all the visitor to see the safari style wild life animal. You will have the up close and personal experience with the animal.
Last but not least is the elephant show which features a show by all the elephant.

Too bad due to time constraint I was not able to visit the Monkey Island. Maybe next time. :-)

Ah Jie start crawling

At end of Sept, Ah Jie start to learn how to crawl.
Now he's enjoying his new skill and able to crawl everywhere around the house.

Of course, sometimes he's tired and will just lie down on the floor. :-)

Mid Autumn Festival in Genting

During this year mid-autumn festival(17th Sept - 18th Sept, 2005), we went to Genting Highland to meet with my parent , Han Keong and Mei Ling. It's a long drive from Penang and we started our journey about 6am in the morning.
We reach Gotong Jaya (a town nearest to Genting resort and seems like name after Genting founder ) about 11.30am . Father fetched us up the hill while HanKeong and MeiLing were taking cable care.

Both JingKai and JingJie were enjoying themselves in the highland resort.

It's a short time, but I think both my parent are very happy to meet with their grandchildren.

And I think this trip did clear up some misunderstanding between my parent and me. So, I think the tiredness is still worthwhile..
I also stopped by Ipoh and enjoy one of my favorite food - Nga Choi Gei (bean sprout chicken)

Kai's Family Day

Sept 3rd, our whole family attended JingKai's school Family Day.
His kindergarten bi-annual family day is in Youth Park.
Originally he's in red team, but due to his class teacher is leading blue team, he changed to blue team :-)

Dumex is sponsoring the drink for the event. JingKai is enjoying the free drink.

He seems to enjoy himself on the pony ride.

My 5th US trip

This is my fifth US trip (1st June to 23th June, 2005). Thanks to my company I have another chance to travel to US :-)
In this trip , I traveled to Santa Clara and Folsom in California State. This trip I have chance to visit some company headquater like Intel in RNB Mission Bld , Yahoo Other interesting place like : Nasa Musuem in Santa Clara, Standfard University, world larget Flee Market. This is also my longest stay in the Silicon Valley which I have chance to explore more. Been to most common shopping spot like :Gilroy Prenium outlet, Great mall of the bay , westField shopping town , standford shopping mall and Santana Row (High class shopping row, all the branded stuff like LV, gucci etc)
Besides that I drove down to Folsom , a place I stayed for ~ 3months 5 years ago. Huge changes, the Iron Point raod have been extended to join the east Bidwell road. A lot of new shops like Ross, Marshall, best buy. One suprise I have is I cannot find any Chinese Restaurant in Folsom town area. Luckily, one of my favourite restaurant is Cameron Park is still there :-) Not much interesting thing in Folsom beside shopping. There's quite a number of places that I visited like Oriental place in 65th and Stockton, Boomtown lobster , besides the normal shopping spot like Folsom Prenium outlet, ross, marshall etc.
Not to forget, I got a Hyundai Santa Fe which is the mini SUV. The fuel consumption is extremely high. Luckily this is business trip all the fuel is paid by company. :-)
